Vanilla Bean Cinnamon Maple Syrup

Amazingly easy to make, three simple ingredients create the BEST homemade maple syrup that you will want to put on everything!

Vanilla bean cinnamon maple syrup.  Now that is a mouthful.  As in there are more words in the title (5) than there are ingredients (3).  This syrup takes about two minutes to put together, and then a bit of waiting time for the flavors to all blend into the deliciousness that is vanilla bean cinnamon maple syrup.

Have you ever had a flavored maple syrup before?  I mean a real maple syrup, from pure maple.  The first time I tried different flavored real maple syrups was in Vermont over this past summer.  It was incredible.  Of the varieties that were offered, my favorite by far was the vanilla bean and cinnamon one that was offered.

After having that first experience with the flavored syrup, I knew I had to recreate it at some point.  I ended up waiting about 4 months to be able to make this syrup, and while it was hard, the end result was so worth it.  I bought pure maple syrup in Vermont, and Efrain had some vanilla beans from Madagascar that were given to him from a previous roommate.  Add in some ground cinnamon that I already had, and the three ingredients made the best marriage ever for maple syrups.

I have used this syrup on pancakes, waffles, and even just to taste.  This is the kind of delicious where you lick the plate clean just because you do not want to miss a drop of this syrup.  The vanilla flavor shines through, and the cinnamon is not over powering.  The maple flavor is enhanced by the vanilla and cinnamon, and when you pour it out you can see the specks from the vanilla bean and the cinnamon swirled in with the maple.  Pure goodness.  Don’t miss a single speck; they are essentially little bits of yum guaranteed in every bite!

One of the best things about this recipe is that you can make it once, and then when the syrup in your bottle starts to run low you simply add more maple syrup to fill it up.  The vanilla bean will continue to impart flavor, and if you want you can add in more cinnamon but I found that for the first refill at least, that was not necessary.  Easy upkeep means that the best syrup ever just got even better.  If that was possible, which is debatable :)

The only thing not amazing about this recipe?  Nothing to do with the syrup itself!  I accidentally did not add the photos I took the first time around from the camera to the computer.  Which basically just meant that I had to make more pancakes and have more delicious syrup.  Such a bummer, right?  Totally ok in my book.  More pancakes, more syrup, and better photos for you!

This recipe, much like the Mini Baked Maple Donuts, is one that may not seem like it fits in with the seasons as much.  But maple is definitely one of my favorite fall flavors!  I love using it especially with breakfast treats, as you may have noticed.  Don't be surprised though if you soon see a new dish soon that utilizes maple's amazingness in an entirely different way though- keep checking back!
